Snowkiting for Beginners: What Your First Week in Norway Looks Like

You can learn to snowkite in Norway within one week. The beginner package includes an 8-hour course, after which you can ride on your own in about two days, and rental equipment for the rest of your stay. You live right on the spot at Dyranut, so you head out onto the snow from the door.

Do I need to know how to kite or ski?

You do not need any kiting experience – the course starts from zero. You ride on skis or a snowboard, so you should be able to handle one of them. We lend you skis with touring bindings or a snowboard; you only bring your own boots.

What does the week look like day by day?

Saturday – arrival

You fly to Oslo Gardermoen. Our shuttle runs between 7:00 and 17:00, so plan your arrival within that window. Check your flights with us before booking so they match the transfer.

First days – the course

Every morning we split into groups by level and weather. Beginners go with an instructor to the flat area at Dyranut or to the lake. Groups are small and lessons follow your pace: safety, kite control and your first rides.

After the course – riding

For the rest of the week you have a rental kite and ride on your own or under supervision. Even complete beginners manage their first 5–10 km downwinder with us. At the end the “downwind taxi” picks you up and takes you back to the lodge.

When there is no wind

Statistics show around 80 % windy days, but calm days happen. Then we go ski touring or snowshoeing, and once a week we take a trip to the fjords and waterfalls.

Saturday – departure

We drive you back to the airport.
